Ship Inn History
The Ship was opened in May 1985 after extensive renovations to the 1860's Victorian building.
It features the original tin ceiling, beams and handmade brickwork. The building was originally
a bakery followed by an ice cream parlour with a speak-easy in the back room during the Prohibition Era.
The oak bar built for The Ship by local craftsmen was capped with the two bowling alley lanes used during
the 1950's and 60's in the village of Milford. 61 Bridge was once again transformed in 1994 to make way
for a new 7 barrel brewing system, additional dining adjacent to the brew house, a new kitchen and restrooms,
all wheelchair accessible from Honeysuckle Lane.
On January 3rd 1995, The Ship was proud to become the first in New Jersey to brew beer for consumption
on premise since the days of Prohibition. Wearables and collectibles
commemorating your visit to New Jersey's First Brewpub may be purchased from the bar.
