Large Parties

For weddings or special events including car and motorcycle club rallies, we have capacity for up to 90 people. Smaller parties (less than 20) are generally accommodated with ease during peak business hours such as Friday and Saturday night or holidays, whereas for larger parties, there may be some constraints when considering booking times.

It is possible to close the restaurant to the public for several hours, such as for a wedding, though this would entail a room fee in addition to regular menu and service charges.

18% gratuity is added for service staff plus 7% sales tax for all food and beverage charges.

Contact our dining room manager to discuss arrangements.

Examples of event formats are listed below:

Cocktail Parties

Cocktail parties work well for birthdays and company events where a full, sit-down meal is too cumbersome or costly. We can accommodate 40-60 people depending on the time of day. We typically serve finger food / appetizers on platters that can be spread across multiple tables or placed on a single table.

For food portioning and cost, base the total number of portions (10 portions of wings + 10 portions of ribbon fries + 10 portions of pasties= 30 portions) at about 25% less than total guests. So for 40 people, a reasonable first offering would be to put out 30 portions. If you need to order more during the event, that is not a problem.  Portion cost is approximately menu cost less 10% when served on a platter.

For drinks, you can have an open tab with customers wearing wrist bands or some other indicator of your choice. You can limit consumption on your tab with drink tickets. You can also have guests pay cash bar from the beginning or after a certain point. In these scenarios, we have a party rate for house beer and house wine of $5.50 per glass when the organizer is covering the tab. All other items are regular menu price.

Tax and 18% gratuity are applied to all totals.

Sit Down Meal Formats

A sit down meal format is ideal for parties of 30 people or less. In order to ensure fluid service from the kitchen, we tend to reduce menu selections to a soup or salad or a few table platters, and choice of 5 entrees. Your cost would be approximately equal to the regular menu price less a 10% discount. Your menu cost will change depending on the choice of entrees you wish to include.

Children under the age of 10 typically choose from the our Kids Menu and are charged for food and beverage according to regular menu price.

Drinks from the bar are set at the regular menu price for parties of 30 and under. 18% Gratuity and 7% sales tax are always added to your sub total.

18% gratuity is added for service staff plus 7% sales tax for all food and beverage charges.

Car Club Party Format

The Ship has hosted car and motorcycle club rallies since we opened in 1985. We recognize that each has differing characteristics in terms of group social cohesion, arrival and departure timing, and number of guests. Some groups have staggered arrival and departure times for their members, and even a need for a time clock or administrative table. Some groups wish to arrive together, eat together, and depart together. Other groups arrive all at once but wish for individuals to pay separate tabs and leave as they wish.

We recognize that time is valuable on rally day. To facilitate your event at The Ship, we would urge you to consider the following:

Time and cost per person is minimized when the menu is limited in some way. For example, a choice of soup or salad, 5 entrees, and 1 dessert (if desired). Burgers are limited to 2 types of cheese and two cooking temperatures, med-rare or med-well.

Time is saved most with a buffet format that limits the amount of server interaction per person. Time is saved most when there is a single bill bill for the group rather than separate bills for each member of the group.

We can help select a limited menu that might best work for your group in terms of taste, variety, and price if you wish to have sit-down table. For groups of 25 or less, a limited format works well.

For groups larger than 30, we suggest you look at our Buffet Format on the next page.
